recent studies on GLP-1s and women’s health
1. Meta-Analysis: GLP-1 RAs Improve Weight, Insulin Resistance & Hormones in PCOS
A 2025 meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials found that GLP-1 receptor agonists in women with PCOS significantly:
Reduced body weight, BMI, waist circumference and waist-to-hip ratio
Improved glucose homeostasis (fasting insulin, OGTT outcomes, HOMA-IR)
Showed mixed effects on lipid profiles
These agents were compared to placebo or metformin and demonstrated benefits on metabolic parameters central to PCOS pathophysiology.
👉 Key takeaway: GLP-1RAs can improve metabolic dysfunction, a core driver of PCOS symptoms.

2. GLP-1 Combination Reduced Endometrial Cancer Risk by 66%
When combined with progestin, GLP-1s reduced risk of endmetrial cancer by 66% in a study done with 444,820 patients. Those who also used Metformin had even greater reductions in risk.
👉 Key takeaway: GLP-1s don’t just reduce appetite, they lower inflammation which is a driving force in chronic diseases. Blood sugar and sex hormone management is also a key factor in women’s health.
